16 foot & ankle MIS surgeons have been paired to face off head-to-head in a bracket style single elimination tournament over four rounds. Each speaker will have 5 minutes (strictly regulated) to present a foot & ankle Limb Salvage case, with a different category assigned to each round. After each speaker of the paired matchup finishes, the audience will then have 30 seconds to cast their vote as to which surgeon advances to the next round. Losing Speakers are eliminated from the tournament (but may participate in the audience voting if desired). Winning Speakers advance to the next round.
Voters will vote on specific criteria.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Cine-Med and LER Expo. Cine-Med is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Amgad M Haleem A Amin, MD, PhD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Mass General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston, MA, specializing in Lower Extremity Complex Reconstruction, Joint Preservation and Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Haleem takes special interest in adult foot and ankle deformity, complex lower extremity deformity correction, and joint preservation. Haywan Chiu, DPM, is a podiatric surgeon at Albuquerque Associated Podiatrists in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He specializes in diabetic limb salvage. Dr. Chiu's medical education has taken him from coast to coast in the United States. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2007, before moving east for medical school, graduating from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2013. His residency took him back to the west coast and the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Palo Alto Podiatry Residency Program and Stanford University. Before joining private practice, Dr. Chiu was an assistant clinical professor at the University of New Mexico in the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation department. It was during his early years of practice that he found his specialty area: diabetic limb salvage. Additionally, he has an interest in surgical education, and believes video format should be embraced by future educators.
Jeffrey Loveland, DPM, is a board-certified, independent podiatrist at Ascension Saint Thomas in Sparta, Tennessee. Dr. Loveland diagnoses and treats toe, foot and ankle conditions, including fungal and wound care, plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenails, bunions, tarsal tunnel syndrome, fractures, ankle sprains and more.
I have been fortunate to live and train throughout many regions of our country. I spent most of my formative years in Tennessee, where I learned to appreciate good food, good manners, and great people. I completed my undergraduate degree at the College of the Holy Cross, where I was selected as an All-American football player. My medical training took me from Memphis to Hartford to Dallas, and my professional and volunteer activities have ranged from San Francisco to New York to Hanoi, Vietnam.
All of these experiences have shaped my approach to patient care. No matter what our differences or from where we hail, we all approach our health with similar intention – we want straightforward information with which to make informed, personalized decisions.
Injury, immobility, and pain are worrisome and stressful. Professionally, there is nothing I enjoy more than helping people face this adversity, determine their goals, and craft personalized solutions that feel right for them. I am interested and trained in all aspects of foot and ankle reconstruction, from toe malalignment to sports injuries to complex reconstruction of arthritic, diabetic, and neurologic deformities. Biography
Dr. Brian Burgess is a board-certified podiatric surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle surgery. His treatment philosophy stresses conservative management and an evidence-based approach to surgical intervention when indicated. Prior to surgery, Dr. Burgess uses a variety of conservative techniques including injections, bracing, orthotics and physical therapy. With an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques, he frequently returns his patients to an active lifestyle in a quick and safe manner.
Dr. Burgess is well-trained in all aspects of the foot and ankle and has a special interest in minimally invasive bunion correction, minimally invasive fracture repair, Achilles tendon disorders, acute and chronic ankle sprains, ankle arthroscopy, heel pain treatment, orthotic therapy, sports-related injuries and trauma/fractures of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Burgess received his podiatry degree from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 2009 and his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Burgess completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency in trauma and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Burgess is actively involved with medical education. He is the Fellowship Director of Hinsdale Orthopaedics (IBJI) Foot and Ankle Fellowship. Dr. Kelsey Millonig is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon and is elated to serve the people of her home state, Iowa. She is passionate about improving patient outcomes in foot and ankle surgery with innovative techniques, research, and leadership. Dr. Millonig offers expertise in minimally invasive surgery (bunions, hammertoes, flatfoot), limb deformity correction and lengthening(clubfoot, congenital defects, brachymetatarsia, or traumatic deformity), orthoplastic reconstruction (soft tissue injury), nerve injury, charcot neuroarthropathy, arthritis, total ankle replacement, and traumatic injuries. Dr. Adrienne Estes is a podiatric surgeon currently practicing in southern California. She is an Assistant Professor for Western University of Health Sciences and Chief of Podiatry at Riverside University Health Systems. She graduated from WUCPM and after finishing her residency in NY at the HHC Hospitals she completed her fellowship at the North Jersey Foot & Ankle Fellowship under Dr. Michael Subik. She currently specializes in minimally invasive surgery, complex limb deformity correction, limb salvage, and surgical offloading solutions for diabetic ulcers. She is double board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is also a fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing since 2016. She is currently the site coordinator for the PGY3 residents from VA Loma Linda and leads the Foot & Ankle Grand Rounds at the RUHS Orthopedics Residency program. She was recently voted faculty of the year at WesternU and is currently advancing the medical school curriculum with surgical cadaver conferences for pre-clinical students. Dr. Abicht is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon practicing for over a decade at Gundersen Health System (GHS) in La Crosse, WI. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and currently serves as department chair for the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Department at Gundersen Health System. Dr. Abicht is actively involved in medical education, medical leadership, as well as research with regular publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Additionally, he serves on the editorial board for multiple journals. Dr. Abicht is a leading surgeon innovator within the foot and ankle space, with particular interests in percutaneous and MIS techniques as well as emerging technologies that advance patient care. Narendra R. Patel, DPM is a highly skilled podiatric foot and ankle surgeon based in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He is a partner surgeon at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists. Dr. Pearson received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2011 and completed his residency in foot and ankle surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2014.

Alton R. Johnson Jr., DPM is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery-Foot and Ankle. Founder and CEO of AJ Educational Empowerment. Dr. Johnson received his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Barry University. During his time as an undergraduate at Barry U., Dr. Johnson completed a summer basic science research internship at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and a clinical epidemiology research internship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In 2012, he attended the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. In addition, as a podiatric medical student Dr. Johnson presented several research posters focused on geriatric fall secondary to foot deformities.
